Are You a Hoarder?

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

Alas, I confess. I save everything, "You never know when you might need it". I am desperately trying to become "Hoardless". Every once in a while (every ten or so years) I go through the closets, drawers, under beds, behind sofas etc. and start to throw out. I usually reduce the Hoards by half but still, I find it hard to resist keeping this or that which I haven't used since the last time I threw out the clutter. This time I really mean business. I promise.

Here are a few hints for those of you who want to join in this monumental event.

1. If you haven't used it in a year, toss it.

2. There should be a special place for everything. I did that one year, and it was wonderful until I began to fill up the empty spaces in-between.

3. Think of all the homeless who could use those clothes you haven't worn for ten years.

4. Make a closet into only storage space, shelves, drawers, cupboards and whatever.

5. Make your clothes closet workable. Add shelves, shoe racks, etc. Use boxes and label them, label them, label them.

6. Hang your pots and pans in the kitchen to free up drawer or cupboard space.

7. Use attractive containers for kitchen tools instead of storing in drawers.

8. Get rid of plastic containers without lids.

9. Hang pots and pans to free up cupboard and drawer space

10. The secret is get rid of it, all the its, maybes, might's and could be's.
