Meals and Memories: How to Create Keepsake Cookbooks is a delight to thumb through and a pleasure to delve into. I consider it a vehicle for preserving American Cooking for future generations. What a fabulous and worthwhile undertaking broken down, for the reader into small accomplishable tasks. If you have a desire to organize and keep your family's treasured recipes, look no further. This is THE book that can help you achieve just that!

The first chapter defines a Keepsake, then goes on to tell the reader how the book is organized. She gives you a few fundamentals about cookbooks in Chapter Two. Especially interesting in this section is designing the look of your keepsake cookbook.

She gets your creative juices going with examples conveniently illustrated for the reader. In Chapters five through eight, the author explains how to initiate collecting, formatting, and adding memories and photos. Here she discusses the use of your computer as an invaluable means to accomplish an otherwise overwhelming task!

Chapters nine and ten dish out the actual creation of the keepsake and some finishing touches such as adding borders and positioning materials on the pages. In each chapter she includes a handy, "Tips and Tools" section, as well as a "Do It Yourself" area where the author summarizes everything learned in each chapter.

She finishes in Chapters eleven and twelve with "More Ideas." Steligo tells readers how to use cookbooks as fundraisers and gives 101 themes for Keepsake Cookbooks. She attaches an appendix to die for with a master checklist of all the steps!

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I can't wait to get started on our family keepsake, considering the extraordinary cooks in my family. Kathy Steligo, thanks for the hard work you obviously put into this step by step guide for accomplishing what every family ought to consider undertaking in able to preserve an essential part of their family history!

Highly recommended.
