Simmering Scents

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

Assault your senses! Breathe deeply, and take in the comforting smells of apples, cinnamon, and spices.

Apple Vanilla Simmering Pot

1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 tsp. whole cloves
1 tbls. vanilla
4 broken cinnamon sticks
8 drops apple-scented oil

Orange Spice Simmering Pot

1/2 c. dried or fresh orange peel
1 tbls. whole cloves
2 peices broken cinnamon sticks
8 drops sweet orange oil

Pine Simmering Pot

1/4 c. dried pine needles
1/4 c. dried cedar or similiar evergreen needles
6-8 small pine cones
1 tbls. whole cloves
8-10 drops pine oil

Scented oils can be found in any craft store, or in the craft section of your local grocery store.

Place all ingredients in the top section of a simmering pot, candle-heated or electric. Add boiling water to fill, and add more boiling as needed. I have used my gas stove for a bigger pot of scents (never electric, since the flame can't be controlled) and have doubled or tripled the "recipe". Watch carefully!

Also when cooking herbs and spices become stale, don't discard them! Save them for your own creations!
