toaster
(ARA) - Small kitchen appliances like toasters tend to look alike: almost always rectangular, usually white and with two slots. There are choices, however, for the style-conscious person who craves something different in the kitchen. Striking designs are showing up in the normally mundane kitchen appliances that are part Art Deco, part architectural, and chock full of state-of-the-art functions plus real design appeal.

One new style is the Avant* toaster from T-Fal, the non-stick cookware manufacturer and maker of innovative small electrics. This style sets the standard for smart looks in kitchen electrics. The angular design of the toaster-flat back and curved face-means it occupies less space, yet makes a dramatic and eloquent design statement.

There is a choice of four function-packed versions of the Avant* toaster. Two are 950-watt, four-slice toasters: one model in chrome and black and another in white with chrome accents. These striking models are engineered with four extra-wide angled slots to accommodate a variety of breads, from thick to thin, bagels to muffins.

There are two 950-watt two-slice Avant* models, one in chrome and black and one in white with chrome accents. Both feature two extra-wide, 1.4-inch angled slots to hold even the thickest slices of bread.

The four toasters are equipped with six-position precision electronic browning and the roomy slots have T-Fal's exclusive self-centering mechanisms to position bread so they toast evenly and consistently. The Avant*s are crafted with T-Fal's exclusive Hi-Lift function that raises toast above the slots for easier-than-ever removal. Other popular convenience features are the cancel function that lifts toast mid-cycle and the re-heat and defrost functions to warm previously toasted bread or for toasting frozen breads.

Thermal-insulated housings ensure that the T-Fal Avant*s are always safe-to-the-touch. The user-friendly toasters are designed with pull-out crumb trays for easy cleaning and back handles for portability. Avant*s toasters retail from $49.99 to $79.99.
