Fresh & Healthy: 100 Fabulous Heart Healthy Recipes

IMAGE Review by Cindy Sanchez

I must admit, I have been a little slow in joining the beneficial mode of healthy eating. I know the facts. Eating healthy is not only best for your body but it plain and simple makes you feel better too. As I age, I have come to realize just how important feeling good is in my everyday activities. And with a family history of heart disease it is time for me to make some culinary adjustments. But, do I really have to stick with green salads, fruit and yogurt? I am on a quest to find something more...

Enter Fresh & Healthy: 100 Fabulous Heart Healthy Recipes by Sally James. In association with Australia's world-renowned Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, James has created a cookbook that not only presents delicious recipes, but recipes that will help improve ones eating habits. And, believe it or not, this can be done without deprivation!

Flavor is not sacrificed in any of the recipes. In fact, flavor is the key ingredient. Tried Recipe: page 88

Penne with Char-Broiled Chicken and Eggplant

What a marvelous dish! The ingredients were easy to find. Preparation directions were very simple to follow, and the accompanying colored photo helped to show that I followed them pretty well. What is also wonderful to note is that this recipe, along with all the others in the book is listed with a nutritional analysis that includes the calorie, total fat, saturated fat, and sodium content.
